Broadway

370 Broadway St, Cambridge, MA 02139

At our Broadway Center we provide an exceptional environment for children to develop socially and intellectually in a program designed to address the emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of each child. We believe in providing a level of education and care that is locally unrivaled and nurturing.

As a small center with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, our kind and loving teachers know all of the children – not just the ones in their class.

The Broadway Center (renovated in 2021) at 366B/370 Broadway has two toddler rooms, and the preschool classroom at the corner of Broadway and Lee Street.

Our teachers love to nurture and cuddle all of our students. Independence is encouraged in the toddler and toddler/preschool groups, but a hug and help to calm oneself is always available.
With our Montessori-inspired curriculum, our classroom design fosters your young child’s emerging independence and desire for exploration. The environments are designed to promote your child’s growth in all areas of development with practical life, sensorial, language, and cultural experiences.

The site is within walking distance of Central, Kendall, and Inman Square and is accessible by the 68 bus line. Around the corner is the intimate Wilder Play Area, and the newly-redesigned Sennott Park and Greene-Rose Heritage Park are a 5-10 minute walk down the street. The main branch of the Cambridge Public library is a healthy 15 minute walk down the street.

Shanae Saint Louis, Center Director

My name is Shanae Saint Louis. I have been in the childcare field for over 10 years. I graduated from Pine Manor College with a dual bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Community Health. I have worked with all ages from infants to school age. I started off my career just as a volunteer and grew my passion for education and teaching. From this I have worked my way through this field as a teacher for many years teaching and supporting all ages. I then switched my path and decided I wanted to pursue more of a leadership role in early education and I decided to become an assistant director for 1 year and transitioned into a center director and this is where I have been for the last three years. Through gaining so much experience in this field I have grown so much love for what I do.I am a mom to two wonderful boys Kyng who is 2 years old and Khalyl who is 8 months old. I enjoy spending time with my family, and I love cooking in my free time. Our family is very musically driven so music is a huge part of our home environment.
My boys keep me so busy running around and being outside in nature. My toddler keeps me constantly laughing, when you get a chance to meet him you will learn he has such a great sense of humor. They are truly my drive of why I have so much passion and love for what I do.As a mother, I understand the importance that early childhood education has on future success in school and in life. I am excited to be able to offer a safe and thriving learning environment here at Rock and Roll Daycare. I am a true believer that children learn best in a nurturing environment that fosters self-confidence, trust, creativity. My goal is to build a community with families, so that we can all support one another to provide the positive environment that our children need to thrive. I look forward to working together to create a lifetime foundation here for the children. I value the role of being supportive, relatable and proactive with my staff and families.

Christine Ashman, Program Specialist

I have been with Rock and Roll Daycare for over a year. I am a seasoned early childhood professional with over 20 years in the field. My previous roles include family group childcare owner, special education aide, and lead teacher in infant and preschool classrooms.
I have considerable experience working with dual language learners. I love the role of program specialist because it allows me to spend time with the children and get to know the families while also coaching the staff and overseeing the curriculum.
I hold an M.Ed in Early Childhood Development and Special Education, and an M.A. in International Communication.
Fun fact – I have lived in China, Hong Kong, England, and Australia. (Yes, I have seen a kangaroo). I strive every day to make a difference in the lives of children by offering hands-on, child-centered, independent learning opportunities that are relevant to children’s lived experiences. Our job as early childhood educators is to get children ready to learn. Social-emotional learning is the basis for all learning. We teach them how to get along with others, how to gain control of themselves, and develop their approach to learning and life.
