East Cambridge

527 and 535 Cambridge St, Cambridge, MA 02141

A Welcoming Home for Your Child

At East Cambridge, we embrace the feeling of one big, supportive family. With our low teacher-to-child ratios, your little one gets the focused attention they deserve in a secure and intimate setting. When you step into our center, you’ll feel an immediate sense of cozy calm. You might hear the gentle sounds of soft music in the background, mixed with the happy, contented chatter of the few children engaged in play—perhaps a quiet sing-along of a favorite nursery rhyme. You’ll see children snuggled up reading a story one-on-one with a teacher, or peacefully preparing for a stroller ride outside. We love our neighborhood and enjoy our gentle explorations of the local parks, firehouse, and libraries.

Our original center spans two sites at 527 and 535 Cambridge Street, specifically designed to maintain a small, nurturing community. Our warm and inviting classrooms—two for infants, two for toddlers, and one for preschool—are thoughtfully nestled into charming storefront spaces within the historic East Cambridge neighborhood. To ensure year-round comfort, the space also features an indoor gross motor play area, providing a wonderful spot for active play, even on cooler days.

The site is conveniently located within walking distance of Lechmere station and Kendall Square, and is serviced directly by the 69 bus. We are just a short walk from the newly renovated Valente Public Library and many local public parks, which offer lovely play equipment, water features, and open space for your child to explore. Limited, secure stroller storage is available onsite

Tamari Washington, Center Director

Hello Everyone,

My name is Tamari Washington and I am the Center Director of the Rock and Roll Daycare East Cambridge location. I have worked in childcare education for over ten years now and the majority of my learning experiences come from working with children of all ages within any learning environment. I started out in a lot of different youth programs such as afterschool, daycare, camping, and I also taught as a public school teacher in Cambridge for a few years.

I have all three degrees in the educational field as well as many certifications related to my success. I have learned so much through my own experiences when interacting and communicating with children, families and my peers.

My passion comes from knowing that I had the ability to teach a child something new that they can learn from and take with them forever as they grow older to become successful people in this world. I believe there has to be a balance of learning and fun while in the classroom because implementing their personal interest in their learning keeps them engaged!

All in all, I am super excited to be a part of the Rock and Roll Daycare family and I feel I have truly found my place here. I believe any family would love it here as well. Join us and begin to experience our program whole-heartedly! We welcome everyone and always love to have more opportunities to build as many positive relationships as we can with children and their families daily.

To name a few fun facts and personal hobbies: My favorite color is green and I do like to bowl, dance, or bike ride. I also do like to complete a lot of different puzzles such as suduko, word search, and any other brain teasers I can find for myself.

Start your new journey today!
